May ended very well for the Beavers. The team got back on track and that resumed well into June. The first series started on the road in tourist town Niagara Falls.
June 1st, the Beavers lost that game after Ace Jimmy Sanders was shelled for 6 H, 5 ER, 3 HR in only 3.2 IP.
"I just didn't have my stuff today, sometimes a day like this comes and you just have to forget about it," was the quote from Jimmy Sanders in the post-game press conference.
The team just wasn't right that game either, not one single attempted stolen base. Something manager George Sime wants changed ASAP. "Speed is such a huge part of our game, we can't always mash out the home runs to win games, sometimes we have to manufacture runs." Sime stated in press conference.
June 2nd, the conclusion of the NFF series saw reigning Cy Young award winner Javier Rodriguez take on veteran Ethan Pickup. The Beavers made the scorboard light up with one early in the 1st when recent call-up, Joe "The Douching Beaver" Henderson ripped the third pitch he saw for a double. Two batters later, Henderson came home on a throwing error from the Frenzy's CF on Zach Hutchinson's single,
Javier Rodriguez then took the game over only allowing 1 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, 6 K in a solid 8 innings of work, earning the dub.
After an off-day the Beavers flew home to Iqaluit, Nunavut Territory, Canada to welcome reigning BSA Champeens Hendersonville Hitmen.
The first game of the series had the mis-match of all mis-matches in the SP department. For H'ville, Mike Haward, who himself, no-hit the Beavers last year pitted against very unproven SP Katsuhiko Takaki. Both gave solid outings of 7.1 IP with 3 ER each. Neither starter would factor into the decision though.
This game was a marathon, going into the 16 inning and after 2 blown saves by the Hitmen. Alvin King was the 2nd batter to take th box in the bottom half, ripping a triple in Baffin's massive park setting up the inevitable. Lee Brouthers was up next but was intentionally walked, Joe Henderson struck out, bringing up lackluster Jason Jackson. Jackson didn't waste any time, fouling off the 1st pitch he saw, then slapping a single to drive in King...game over, Beavers defeat the Hitmen in 16 innings!!
Game two saw the newly acquired Hitmen's Marcos Pinieda face Harvey Phillips. Phillips silenced the Hitmen bats with a solid 7.2 IP, 5 H, 0 BB and 4 K. But the Beavers bats were less than silent, both Zach Hutchinson and Charlie Murdock jacked 2 HR each.
Game three was also very entertaining, the Hitmen sent Carlos Arevalo to the mound to face Lloyd MacBride. Both pitchers threw a solid 6 innings and only 2 ER each. This game also saw a blown save, only for it to happen to the Beavers in the 8th inning. Setting up Hasegawa to hit the GW HR in the top of the 10th against the $19 million man, Marcos Dominguez.
"We had a chance to sweep them, but we got ahead of ourselves in that game. After all they are the reiging champs, other teams may have been down-and-out in the 8 or 9 inning, but not H'ville. I mean, have you seen their roster?" explained George Sime to reporters.
The next series saw the St. Louis Browns come to town, with Jimmy Sanders, again, getting out-pitched. This time by Kisho Kichida. Losing 2-0 hurts the high the Beavers just came of off taking 2 of 3 from H'ville.
The next two games saw J-Rod and K-Tak both get dubs over Eddy Buckley and Tim Welply. Only allowing 1 run in those two games. The Beavers look forward to the next set against St. Charles and Cleveland.
